Hello Midwest DRY Winters! I think living somewhere with all four seasons is the BEST, but as seasons change you also may have to switch up your skincare routines. The dry temps outside and the indoor heating takes moisture out of the air – which leaves you with dry skin in the winter months. To help, I have rounded up some of our Vilia Soap best sellers that can help you combat your winter skin.
- Body Oil: Our light, fast absorbing oil delivers nutrients to your skin and helps lock in moisture. It is also PERFECT to add to your bath to help your skin soften while you soak. Best time to apply it is after your shower while your skin is damp.
- Mint & Vanilla Lip Balm: I can’t live without my lip balm. It is the last thing I put on before I go to bed and I apply as needed throughout the day. It is made with beeswax to help protect your lips and shea butter and olive oil to nourish.
- Lavender Soothe & Repair Balm: This has been the best multi-purpose balm. I have been using it on my face at night, as well on a few patches of dry and itchy skin. It is also great for chapped cheeks for kids.
- Body Balm: Our highly concentrated intense moisturizer great for hands, cuticles, elbows, and feet. I also like using this on my legs after a bath at night ANNNND it is perfect for a growing baby bump! 😊
- Lavender & Tea Tree Soap: Dry skin can also be due to the soap you are using, so it is always good to start with natural moisturizing soap! Most soaps on the market contain ingredients that often strip your skin’s natural oils and can be even more drying to your skin. Our soaps are made with 100% natural oils that gently clean and moisturize and are good for face and body.
A few other tips!
- Toner: Typically, I use a toner twice a day (normally I am oily) but have switched to using less or sometimes even only using it once a day.
- Sugar Body Scrub: Itchy skin often starts with dry skin. Scrubs are a good way to remove dead skin cells to allow for the easy absorption of a skin moisturizer. You can make a simple scrub at home by mixing some Extra Virgin Greek Olive Oil and brown sugar – use 1-2 times a week.
- Avoid taking really hot showers (this is hard I know!) but the heat strips skin of its natural oils and causes inflammation.
